Thomas Paquette & Mikel Wintermantel "The Enduring Landscape" November 8 - December 20, 2019 Catered Opening Reception November 8, 6-8 PM
"My recurring subject is the natural world mainly because it astonishes me daily. I take nature as both subject and teacher. The slow, massive grind of plate tectonics and the whims of weather alike are mentors and guides as I build up and scrape off layers of color to get at something vital, something more essential to me than a faithful exactitude to the look of the subject." - Paquette
"I am an artist schooled in tradition and raised in a modern world. Living in WNY, surrounded by forest, I am often perched on the edge of a cliff or on the shore of a lake. I respond to what I feel and I am moved to capture that spirit as I see it, unfettered by complication. I am most drawn to the deeply filtered light of dawn and dusk, it is then you can usually find me scanning the horizon and sky for nature's light show, making plans for another painting."
