The Seneca Arts Virtual Incubator (SAVI) is a business program designed to provide Seneca and Southern Tier area artists with one year of arts business training, career counseling, marketing, and support services. For 2011 SAVI participants, the program is free of charge and is being funded by the Seneca Nation of Indians and the Appalachian Regional Commission in partnership with the Cattaraugus County Arts Council. The program began in January of 2011 with 25 participating artists.
The twelve-month program consists of in-person classes, online webinars, assigned readings, and peer group meetings and discussions. The program will culminate in a portfolio review and a group exhibition. The SAVI program provides a unique opportunity for artists to learn essential business skills from arts industry professionals within a supportive environment of peers. Due to the generous funding provided by the Seneca Nation of Indians and the Appalachian Regional Commission, the program is offered entirely free of charge to participants. Participation in the program will provide artists with the tools and resources to successfully complete marketing, sales, and time management plans and learn how to present and exhibit their work in a professional manner. Additionally, they will produce personalized marketing materials and legal forms, as well as their own website. Through completion of this program, participants will become part of a community of artists that will work toward growing the arts and culture industry in this region.
