What is Routes to Art? Routes to Art, on the weekend of May 18-19, 2019, is a self-guided open studio tour which takes place in artist studios, private homes, museums, libraries, and businesses in Cattaraugus County.
What will I see on Routes to Art? Routes to Art showcases artists and artisans working in a wide range of media including painting, photography, jewelry, sculpture, fiber arts, wood carving, ceramics, beading, pottery, and more. During Routes to Art weekend, the artists are available to answer questions and demonstrate how they create their work. Visitors will meet the artists in person, see live demonstrations of their craft, and have a chance to purchase works directly from the people that create them! You may enter a studio and find a watercolor artist demonstrating a technique, watch a woodworker turning a bowl, or see a ceramic artist working with clay. This is a chance to see more of an artist’s work than you would at a typical venue.
As an Artist, how I can I participate in Routes to Art? Artist guidelines and applications are HERE. Watch for notices on Facebook and in the Arts Council's bi-weekly email newsletter for information on how to be a part of this event.
