Greg Souchik "Rock and Roll in Black & White"
January 2020

Rock and Roll in Black and White - a collection of portraits of music icons from the sixties and early seventies. Some are portrayed at a young age; others in their golden years. The paintings are executed with acrylic paint on canvas, only using black, white and grays in between. The work reflects the media of the era - black and white. The stark contrast of the two colors, the shadow and the light mixed together create a unique view of these artists.

“I regularly use my farm and rural surroundings as subject matter for my artwork. I am interested in the natural beauty of this scenic area.... I believe that we look at the same surroundings all day long and sometimes we take for granted how beautiful our surroundings really are.” - Shields

Wendy Bale "papercuts"
August 8 - September 18, 2020

Wendy Bale is an artist specializing in cut paper sculpture. Her joy is to establish contact through the mutual love of favorite nature subjects.

“This past couple of years I have tried several different techniques for paper cutting. It’s a very old practice, and I have found many traditional and modern ways of working in this fascinating medium. I have discovered my own combinations adding charcoal elements and have developed my own style through this exploration.”

Paper Cuts is the artist’s first solo show of her cut paper artwork. The hand-done process uses knives, scissors, and even torn paper techniques. The work represents hours of learning, experimentation, and discovery. “It is my hope people will see simple paper and scissors in a new light, and imagine the possibilities.”

ryann cooley  collective individual  :  glass portraits
2019 STB best in show winner

September 26 - October 30, 2020

The "Glass Portrait Series" draws attention to the physical and spatial qualities of the work, while simultaneously allowing the viewer to address the subject within the photograph. Merging two mediums that share a long history–photography and glass–fashions an encounter with the photograph realized when experienced in person. The unexpected framing of the image being upside-down allows for a moment of consideration towards the photograph's physicality. Closer examination of the glass sphere reveals the image in the initially anticipated orientation connecting the visual and the physical, referencing the phenomenon of human perception.
The sculptural elements of the piece and the photographs carry equal significance leading the viewer through the physiological and psychological process of perception. The portraits involve the merging of several individuals, categorized by ethnicity and nationalities, into a single image, thus removing the identity of the individual.  Each portrait then represents both the idea of "community" and "individual. The completed art piece places the portrait composite in the framework of glass, welcoming a dialog about tensions between collectivistic and individualistic cultures, as well as how these mindsets are perceived and reconciled within an individual.
