Tri-County Arts Council Announces Big Move in 2018!

The Tri-County Arts Council is excited to announce their move to Olean! The changes happening right at the corner of Union and West State, across from the Olean Post Office are to get the site ready for the Arts Council. In 2018, we will relocate to a newly renovated space at 110-112 West State Street and continue our mission of promoting the creation, presentation and appreciation of the arts in the region. Jeff Belt, Manager of Sunny Olean LLC and President of SolEpoxy, Inc., envisioned an arts space at this location, saying,  “Our area is rich in artists and artisans so I couldn’t be more pleased to welcome the Tri-County Arts Council to the busiest corner in the County – State and Union in downtown Olean!”

Tri-County Arts will continue to offer all types of high quality art classes as well as our popular pottery classes in a dedicated art studio space. Plus, the new location will have an expanded retail storefront and gallery presenting even more opportunities for exposure and sales of work created by local and regional artists. The board and staff are excited about what this relocation can do for the Arts Council, area artists, and other local businesses. Ira Katzenstein, board president said, “the board is excited by this opportunity to expand and grow. This new space will give the Arts Council more opportunities to connect with the community, serve artists and promote the arts more broadly in the region. It is the right place at the right time for the Arts Council.”

The Arts & Economic Prosperity in Western New York report conducted by the Americans for the Arts presents compelling data that the arts mean business in Western New York. Robert L. Lynch, President and CEO of Americans for the Arts explains,  “a vibrant arts community not only keeps residents and their discretionary spending close to home, it also attracts visitors who spend money and help local businesses thrive.”

According to Tina Hastings, Tri-County Arts Council Executive Director, “Downtown Olean is just the right setting to establish an arts community and to watch it grow and flourish, so we were very excited when Jeff Belt shared his vision for an arts space in this location. Since I joined the Arts Council in 2014, the need for a larger space has been a common topic and we had been actively looking for opportunities to expand. This new space will almost double our current square footage, and will position us in a location with high visibility. Tri-County Arts is happy to be part of the revitalization in downtown Olean.”
