Pottery for the People - Register Online

Join in on a fun exploration of clay lead by art teacher and potter, J. Peter Goergen. With pottery wheels and a slab rollers, students will have an amazing opportunity to get their hands dirty and their creativity flowing. The class is designed for all skill levels and abilities, and will allow participants to work at their own pace. If you’ve never worked with a lump of clay in your life, or if you’re a wheel pro, this is the class and creative environment for you. Peter will demonstrate various techniques and methods, and encourage students to try new avenues in their exploration of clay. Class topics include hand building, coil work, slab work, wheel throwing, glazing techniques, kiln firing, tips of the trade, and more! Sign up quickly if interested; spots have filled up fast in previous sessions! All supplies included, open studio hours with our studio assisstants are included during your six week session. Open studio hours and requirements are provided during the class.

Jewelry Techniques & Design - Register Online

On the heels of our popular summer lost wax jewelry class we are offering an extended version for the fall semester. Students will learn unique aspects of jewelry making and design including the lost wax casting method, metal joinery using soldering and riveting techniques, link making, polishing, design, and more. Learn ancient jewelry making methods and then put your creative mark on your own non-precious metal pieces. The instructor provides individualized instruction while students choose their own projects. All supplies included.

Raku Pottery - Register Online

Mondays, 6:30 – 8:30 pm | November 17, 24, December 1, with outdoor firing on Friday, December 12 (snow date Sat. Dec. 13)  | Member $65 | Nonmember $75  

An encore class as requested by our students! Join this highly interactive pottery class featuring a unique winter outdoor firing session. Raku is the Japanese process of using fire and smoke to create unusual and organic patterns on pottery. Hot kiln-fired pottery is placed in metal cans filled with natural combustible materials that ignite to create unpredictable and unique patterns and colors. Participants will make their clay pieces during the first two sessions, apply glaze on the third, and experience the thrill of an outdoor raku session winter style. Class size is limited so register early. All supplies included.   

Demystifying Digital Photography: How to Take and Print Better Pictures - Register Online

So now that you have that digital camera, what are you going to do with it? This class is designed for the amateur photographer who wants to take good digital pictures and have a better understanding about the latest digital photo software programs. Mike will help demystify all those gadgets, buttons, and options on your camera and discuss basic camera operation. You’ll learn how to frame a perfect shot and then make it look even better with creative software techniques such as toning, texture, and special effects. Learn how to optimize your images for printing, emailing, or posting on the web. All supplies included; bring your own digital camera.

 

Fun Furniture Painting - Register Online

Ever see a funky painted chair or stool and think that you’d like to try transforming one yourself? Let Betsy Price show you how in a fun environment by using versatile acrylic paint and your imagination. Each participant will work on their own small piece of furniture while learning tips and techniques such as color mixing, pattern design, aesthetic, form, and more. No painting ability or previous experience is required. Pieces can be painted during class and participants have the option to paint during open studio sessions on Mondays and Saturdays. The pieces can be left at CCAC between classes. Painted furniture makes great gifts and the holidays are just around the corner. Bring your own small piece of furniture in any condition such as a wooden chair, stool, or bench. Class size is limited; register early!
