People of all ages, talents, and viewpoints are encouraged to submit their work for inclusion in our festival of locally-created films celebrating our natural world. Now through July 30: "A Test of Time: The Photography of Milton Rogovin". Mr. Rogovin spent three decades shooting photographs of Buffalo's West Side and the Seneca Nation's Cattaraugus Territory that captured the public and private lives of impoverished Native Americans. He photographed people up to four times during a thirty year period to document changes of people growing up, families forming and even some breaking up. He managed to capture their strength and dignity in his best known images. Seneca-Iroquois National Museum, 814 Broad St. Salamanca, NY. July 6-Aug 12: The Olean Theatre Workshop proudly presents “Park It! Oak Hill Lunchtime Arts", a time to come and enjoy lunch with the Arts in one of the most picturesque parks in Olean. Each Tuesday and Thursday, in the months of July and August 12, bring your lunch and be entertained with music, dance, and theatre in the shade of the majestic oak trees in Historic Oak Hill Park. These events are make possible in part by funds from the New York State Council on the Arts Decentralization Regrant Program administered by the Cattaraugus County Arts Council. In this delicious soufflé of a satire about the pitfalls of the unquenchable hunger for fame, Evan Wyler, a young write on the brink of critical success gets caught up in a lifestyle that blurs the line between fantasy and reality. Faced with the prospect of fame and fortune, he falls under the spell of a brilliant scheming promoter, discovers he's been defrauded to the tune of several thousand dollars, and concocts a scheme of his own to get revenge. July 15-18: The Twin Tiers Theater Festival presents Boeing, Boeing by Marc Camoletti.Bernard, a jet setting architect living in Paris, has been successfully juggling three flight attendant fiancés (with the help of his reluctant housekeeper) by tracking their airlines’ timetables. Mayhem follows soon after the arrival of an old college pal as flights are delayed, schedules change and chaos ensues. This hilarious farce originally premiered in London in 1962, and the Tony Award winning revival ran for nearly 300 performances in 2008. Does marrying a Prince really lead to a happy and fulfilling life? Is carving up the wolf the solution? Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Jack, and Rapunzel, their plots intertwined, are forced to deal with what happens AFTER "Happily Ever After". Composer/Lyricist Stephen Sondheim is the winner of an Oscar, a Pulitzer, multiple Grammy’s, and nine Tony’s - more than any other composer. Susan has been enticed to the Brabissant mansion by a charming Irish couple who are struck by Susan's strong resemblance to Veronica Brabissant, the long dead daughter of the family for whom they work. When they asked her to come home and pretend to be Veronica to make a dying old woman happy, it seemed like such a small thing to ask.
But suddenly, things aren't going the way Susan expected. As a child, Susan was told by her mother not to talk to strangers. Susan should have listened. "Veronica's Room," written by playwright Ira Levin, is a totally absorbing spider's web entwining fantasy and reality.
