_ Since the fall of 2010, CCAC has served as a host site for AmeriCorps member, Heather Carroll, who has helped the arts council build a group of
community volunteers who lend their talents to help us with
special events, studio monitoring, administrative work and during monthly community service projects.
Established in 1993 as part of the National and Community
Service Trust Act, AmeriCorps has grown into a national network of programs
that engages more than 70,000 Americans each year in community service
programs. AmeriCorps members work within local and national non-profit
organizations to help them improve and expand the quality of services they
provide and raise awareness of the organizations in their communities. The
formation of CCAC’s volunteer corps, managed by our AmeriCorps member, has helped us continue to deliver high-quality arts programming and services to
area residents and allow us to extend our reach deeper into the community.
How can you be involved? CCAC is continually recruiting volunteers and matching
participants with appropriate projects. This could mean assisting with the
operation of special events, lending a hand in the office, or acting as a CAPS
monitor. While we have a need for volunteers to assist with ongoing and established
CCAC programs, like Art in the Park and Routes to Art, we’re also interested in
creating new arts focused, community service opportunities in the Southern
Tier. If you have ideas about how you’d like to partner with the arts council
to make a difference in your community we’d love to hear from you! Volunteering
is a fun and rewarding activity and we are certain that the skills and experience
you could offer as a volunteer would only help to strengthen CCAC.
